Robb Aistrup, Double Bass and Cello Teacher
Double bassist Robb Aistrup teaches both Double Bass (Suzuki certified) and Cello. He earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Kansas, and Master of Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In addition to maintaining an active home studio in North Sudbury, MA, Robb has been on the faculty of the Intensive Community Program of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2014. Robb teaches both double bass and cello in the after-school private lesson program at Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA, as well as through the Community Ed program at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. He was an Assistant Instructor of Double Bass at Indiana University-Bloomington, an adjunct professor of bass at Northwestern Missouri State University and Indiana State University, as well as Professor of double bass at the Conservatorio Superior in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
An active free-lancer and contractor in the Boston area, Robb is a member of the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly the Orchestra of Indian Hill) and is Principal Bass of the Lexington Symphony. Locally, he also has performed with the Boston Ballet, Emmanuel Music, and Windsor Music, and New Hampshire Music Festival.
Robb has performed with orchestras throughout the United States and Spain, and has toured in Europe, South America, Israel, and Thailand. He was Co-Principal Double Bass of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife, Spain, for seven seasons. Robb was a contracted member of the Kansas City Symphony and Louisiana Philharmonic. Robb served as Assistant Principal Bass in the Evansville Philharmonic, Principal Bass of the New World Symphony, and has held contracts with Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Evansville Philharmonic, and the Owensboro Symphony. Robb has been a member of the Britt Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon since 1995.
